Need help for my dog’s feet?
I have a 6 year old Jack Russell and she does get allergies in the spring and fall. I just noticed how awful the tops of her feet look as she’s been licking them like crazy. With the holiday tomorrow, I won’t be able to take her to the vet until Tuesday. Does anyone know if there’s anything I can give her until then to help her feel better? (The vet gives her a cortizone shot and that always fixes it.)
Thanks!
you can put some hydrocortizone cream on it. Wash it gently first then put the crean on

Allergies abound in today’s health arena, for dogs as well as humans. There are a various causes for this, but in my opinion, there is only one maintaining cause, ie the reason it keeps going.
As a rule, allergies are showing that the sufferer has a very weak immune system. When you are considering feeding your dog a hypoallergenic dog food, you know that his immune system is at rock bottom.
I’m not going to address the possible causes here, but I am going to look at bringing your dog’s immune system up, so that he is no longer so sensitive.
Food is consumed every day. So food has the biggest impact on your dog’s health. Whatever the label may say, if you’re feeding your dog a commercial hypoallergenic dog food, then you’re contributing to his discomfort and ill health.
All commercial pet foods are basically the same:
Each one of these aspects of commercial dog food will undermine your dog’s immune system. Bringing them all together ensures he can’t fight off any health issue that comes his way.
The best way to help bring up your dog’s immune system is to feed him as his ancestors fed – with raw meat and bones.
I’m not saying that by feeding your dog as nature intended he will necessarily completely recover from his allergies. But he’ll do a whole lot better than he will by feeding him a commercial hypoallergenic dog food.
There is no true holistic vet or animal therapist who doesn’t adhere to this policy.
Once you have his diet addressed and he’s been on it for enough time to see what it alone can cure, then it’s time to consider treatment.
Being a natural therapist myself (a homeopath), of course I’m biased! But I get a lot of animals come to me who vets haven’t been able to help. Once I get the dog on the natural diet, then the homoeopathic remedy of choice finishes the problem off. Without the diet, the remedy can only palliate.
What I’m really saying is that there is no such thing as hypoallergenic dog food. There is only good, healthy dog food and unhealthy dog food. You will never address a problem if you don’t look at the cause (which homeopathy does so well) and you don’t contribute to it.
Suppose you have a riot in the city (allergies). You can send in the police and the riot will die down (allergies seem to clear up). But underneath the unrest continues (the cause of the allergies hasn’t been cured), and the real reasons are left untouched, only to fester into a much worse state (now hypoallergenic). Homeopathy is akin to finding the cause of the riots and disturbances and dealing with those in a peaceful and constructive way. That is the true nature of cure. (See afternote.)
So don’t be taken in by the pretty words and smiling actors on a packet of commercial hypoallergenic dog food. It will do nothing to bring your dog’s immune system back up, which is the only way to help cure his sensitivities.
I consider there is only one type of healthy dog food, only one type which help restore even the sickest dog’s immune system. And that’s the one based on the natural diet of wild dogs.

How, then, are they different from the Staffies? For the UKC or the United Kennel Club, Staffies and APBT are of the same breed but many disapprove of this suggestion. For instance, if the American Kennel Club has an American Staffordshire terrier, it will be registered as an American pit bull terrier by the United Kennel Club. Furthermore, many breeders noted that their lineages have been separate for a long time already for these dogs to be still considered as having the same variety.
Meanwhile, the American Kennel Club does not register a UKC-listed American pit as an American Staffie. In order to gain dual-registry, the dog must initially be recorded as an AKC American Staffie before it can be listed with the UKC as an American pit bull, and not the other way around.
The following are some of the basic facts breeders would really love to know about APTBs:
Category: Terrier Living Environment: either outdoor or indoor Coat: smooth, shiny, thick, and short Colors: color varies Height: between 18 and 22 inches Weight: between 30 and 60 pounds Temperament: courageous, full of energy, and loyal; should be socialized early on with other animals especially with children Health Issues: heart murmurs and mange
Care and Exercise: athe when necessary. Brush their coat only occasionally using a brush with firm bristles. Rub down their coat with a towel or a chamois to remove hairs that are loose. Their physique requires a regular exercise routine which includes a daily play time and/or running along a bicycle while on a leash. They should be on leash while walking in public places.
Origin/History: The ancestors of APBT came to the US in the mid-1800s with some Irish-Boston immigrants. Like the Staffie, they were originally bred from bulldogs and terriers. Since APBT is a forerunner to the Staffie, it was also molded to be a fighting dog. However, the Americans made their variety some pounds heavier and trained them to have a more powerful head.
Bull baiting and dog baiting were prohibited in England so bull terriers were no longer bred for bouts. It is in America where the pit bull also gained its popularity for many uses and reasons like:
It was used to embody the country in one WW1 artwork. Well-known companies like the Buster Brown Shoe Company and even RCA used the breed as mascots. Petie, a pitbull, was one of the stars in, “Our Gang”, a well sought children’s TV series. A mix breed called Stubby was transformed into a popular and decorated WW1 hero. Pits became good companies of pioneer families on their journeys. Jack, a working pit bulldog was owned by Laura Wilder of lines of books called “Little House”. Popular people like Helen Keller and US President Theodore Roosevelt owned the variety.
Here is some history about the cause of dilemma regarding the registries of APBTs. In 1898, the United Kennel Club or UKC was structured to provide fighting guidelines and registration for APBT as fighting dogs. Later, there were breeders who shun away from dog fighting so they asked the AKC to recognize their pits so they would be fit for performance events like dog shows. In 1935, the AKC approved of their petitions but the dogs were registered as Staffordshire Terriers, naming them after the little province in England that the breed was known to have originated from. Thus, many breeders have dogs that have dual-registry.
It is interesting to note that Petie, which was one of the stars in the, “Our Gang” TV series was the first breed that was dual-registered to be Staffordshire Terrier/Pit Bull. However, the UKC later started registering other performing-type varieties and they also began holding dog shows comparable to those of the American Kennel Club.
The AKC soon sealed its studbooks to APBTs. They allocated registration to those pit breeds with lineages that are listed as Staffies. For a little time during the 1970s, the AKC disclosed the American pits to their studbooks.
In 1973, the American KC decided to add the word “American” with the pit’s name to discriminate it from a Staffie. At present, those dogs with mixed APTB-StaffIe parents are recognized by UKC and even the American Dog Breeders’ Association as “American pits or American pit bull terriers”.
Nowadays, the pit has employed as search and rescuers, police/armed service dogs, livestock workers, and even as therapy animals because they are good as companions and working dogs.
Moreover, the variety can even compete in dog sports such as herding, obedience, and conformation, French Ring, and Schutzhund. Breeds of this type can be very loving as pets for everyone. The physical demands and harshness of various activities developed a healthy, strong, and stable animal.
If you want to have an APBT as a pet, be sure that the puppy is handled well and properly socialized. A solid and good training will surely produce an obedient, tranquil, and good companion or even a working dog!

Has anyone had an ear ablation surgery done on their dog?
My dog has had chronic ear infections. I have him on Z/d and allergy tested. He is highly allergic to everything. We have tried, zymox, baytril gimish and many many more. I have spent over $8k for sedations and food and medicine. He is a dogo argentino. The best dog around. Well now the vet has mentioned this. Does this work and why wasnt it brought up to my attention sooner?
Jenny
I am soo with you I have spent thousands on my dogs!! I have done allergy tests on both. My female is on shots because she is sooo allergic to everything outside and in! She is allergic to GRASS! SO have had to get her booties to be out side in the summer! She also had major issues with her ears. They were nasty! They smelled like someone died in them and they were crusty!
Now my male is all food allergies! He is allergic to all grains! Changing them both to a totally grain free food has made the biggest difference! I have tried tons of different food including the crap the vet said too! I have done tons of research! On dog food and found a few brands that are the best next to raw you can do!
I am not sure where you live but there are several good brands to try! First I would not feed that science diet! That is one of the worst foods to feed a dog with allergies!
I am feeding Solid gold barking at the moon right now and both of my dogs love it! They both are doing awesome! Because it such a high quality food I only have to feed 2 cups a day! Both of my dogs are about 95lb each! I have also feed then EVO and they love that too! I have to change from that food because there was no one that sold it where I was on vacation! But it’s a awesome food!
Here are a few others!
Taste of the wild-
Orijin
I would be feeding the taste of the wild but my female has an allergy to chicken. But I do plan on trying the fish one they have just to see! I have been reading how amazing that food is!
I hope this helps you because I wish I knew better 2 years ago and I would never spend as money on crap foods! Email me if you have any more questions!

FBI’s Michael Jackson dossier pegged trial as terror target
NEW YORK — Police concerns that media-hungry terrorists would attack Michael Jackson’s trial as a ’soft target’ led to a request for federal help, according to FBI files kept on the late pop star. The documents also show the FBI helped facilitate interviews in the Philippines by California authorities investigating Jackson over allegations that he had sexually abused boys. The FBI monitored …

Royal Canin dog fod?
So I just got back from a visit to the vet because of my dogs ear infections. He said that he thinks it is allergies and that I should switch to royal canin hypoallergenic veterinary formula. I have her on innova right now which I know is a good food and shows it in it’s ingredients. He gave me a bag of the royal canin and I am very disappointed in the meat content in this food. Meat doesn’t show up in the ingredients list until the third ingredient and it is in the form of chicken fat! I have heard that royal canin is a good food, so I am just curious what you all think. How can it be a good food with ingredients like that? It is just because it is the hypoallergenic formula? My vet was adamant about me switching to this food but I want to be feeding her something that is really good for her…not just fillers. The first three ingredients in the food are: Rice, Soy protein isolate hydrosolate and chicken fat.
vets are not nutritionists. They sell prescription diests because that’s what they sell.
I personally do no like royal canin.. they have the “breed specific” diets which I think are a fad thing.
I would reccommend California Natural.. in particular, the herring and sweet potato formula, to rule out food allergies. They have very few ingredients. Its also from the same company that makes Evo.
