How do I get my dog to stop eating cat poop without using a self cleaning litter box?
Dog eats cat poo out of litter box. Box cannot be high up as cat has diabetes and problems wit hind legs. Enclosed boxes are too small for large cat with health problems as well.
P.S Dog is smaller than cat.
Kitty Roca – My lab loves it!
If you can’t put it up high, try putting it in a bathroom or basement (if you have one) and installing a kitty door that the cat will fit through, but dog won’t. (If it’s a small dog, then get the electronic kind with the node that you attach to the cat’s collar).

Did you know about a huge Dog / Cat food recall?

Menu Foods, the largest maker of WET pet foods has just announced a massive recall. This company makes pet foods for WalMart, Costco, Sams, Safeway, SuperValu, President’s Choice, just about any grocery store you buy your pet’s food in. The recall covers all of Canada, United States and Mexico. Check out the URL below to see if your fuzzy friend’s dinner is on the recall list. Be warned, it’s a huge list.

I work for a holistic veterinarian and we would not tell any of our client that IAMS or Eukanuba were good brands of food. When people ask me why, first I tell them read the ingredients. First thing on the list (dry formula) is corn or wheat then something else then possibly a meat “By product”. Do you know what a by product is? When you go to the bathroom, thats a by product. Ok maybe a little extreme. A by product are all the parts that ordinarlly get theown away in human meat companies. This includes head, feathers intestines, hooves etc. My question then is this what you really want to feed your pet? Most of us look at our pets as a part of our family so would you eat that stuff? When researching a pet food look at the ingredients. The first 3 or at least first 2 ingredients should be a meat, Chicken lamb or beef. Just the word of the meat. Also another is meat meal such as Lamb meal or chicken meal, this is actual meat with all the liquid removed and made into a powder. Of course real meat is best. Pet food companies have to list in order of what is most in their food so if corn is first on the list and a meat is 3rd then this food is made up of moslty grain. Dogs need protein too. Another thing to watch out for are chemical additives. Look for natural tocopherols or fats as preservatives. Stay away from BHA BHT nitrites and chemical additives other than natural vitamins. I have a list that I know to be human grade meats without chemical additives. Most of these brands can be found in most small non chain pet stores.

It is also best to feed your pets canned rather than dry. Another food which are good are Steve’s Raw and Bravo. It is ok and the best way to feed you pet is home cooked. Although be advised that different things need to be supplement to a home cook diet for your pet such as fatty acids and bone meal and other things. Best to find a vet in your area that can give you a good fortefied recipe to a suitable diet that is well balanced and fully nutritional. I hope I have helped a few with questions. Bye

Leukemia is one type of cancer that affects the blood. This disease is characterized by a significant increase of the leukocytes, popularly called white blood cells.
The first symptom is a large number of these cells in the blood marrow or even in the circulation. Leukemia is a result of a genetic malfunction, a mutation that happens inside the bone’s marrow. This disease has several types. It is classified taking into consideration the type of the white blood cells that are involved and also the way in which the disease is progressing.
Leukemia can derive from the bone marrow and it is called myelogenous or granulocytic leukemia and also lymphocytic leukemia when it involves the lymph nodes.
Leukemia disease can either be chronic or acute. It all depends on the kind of white cells that are affected. The chronic one is named chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) or chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). The CLL in pets like dogs and cats has a lot of similarities with the human disease but still some major differences too.
The ALL, or acute lymphoid leukemia is a disease that progresses quite rapidly. A few of the symptoms include fever, anemia, random bleeding, loosing the appetite, swollen lymph nodes, panting, anxiousness, vomiting, pale gums, shifting limb lameness, lack of coordination, some infections that appear because of the week immune system. All these symptoms can cause death if the disease is not treated.
At a clinical examination, if the dog has fever or a bigger than usual spleen or liver, it is a good sign of the disease. Many mature animals develop the acute lymphoid leukemia rather then the young. This is a difference from the human disease which is quite common in children. Another important fact is that this disease can cause some ocular lesions in dogs.
The chronic leukemia has many cancer white cells that are affecting the body’s ability to fight the infections. The disease progresses slowly and it is fatal. It suppresses the immune system and then the bone marrow fails to function. The bag cells then infiltrate the other organs. The disease easily spreads into the blood, the lymph nodes, liver or spleen and into the central nervous system. The disease doesn’t create solid tumors or other solid masses. The death can be quite painful.
Discovering the leukemia can be done ding a simple blood examination and then, if there are suspicions, a bone marrow analysis.
