dog food puzzles
Why does my dog head butt her food/bones/water dish before eating and drinking?

Ever since she was a puppy, my dog has a strange ritual where she head butts her food dish and water dish before taking small drinks or bites. It takes her almost an hour to eat her meals because of this behavior. Also, she splashes half of the water all over the floor in the process. Its not really a big deal or anything, I am just curious as to where this behavior comes from. I have read plenty on dog behavior, but this one honestly has me puzzled. She is a 3 year old Lhasa Apso with a very sweet temperment. She never guards or protects her food or toys in anyway. She also displays this behavior with her chewing bones and greenies while she is chewing them

Any thoughts?

Sounds to me like she is trying to mark it as hers. Lhasas are naturally territorial, and she is probably trying to get her smell on it to say “This is mine”. My lhasa, Tasha, used to roll and root on and head butt all of her toys and bones everyday. She just wanted to make sure that they all smelled like her.

The free Wikipedia Encyclopedia, tells us that Quantum Entanglement is a mechanical system where two or more objects are linked together even if they are spatially separated.

It talks about spin measurement and hidden variables, Bell’s inequity, H. Eisenberg’s uncertainty principle etc. This the Scientific Quantum approach. The study of the smallest particle of matter – the physical Quantum.

It is all well and good but how does it help you and me and massive humanity stop struggling? How does it give us an explanation of how to maintain health, wealth and happiness?

I say we should study and understand Spiritual Quantum Entanglement. This is where the Quanta is described as one soul, the smallest subdivision of the infinite soul, Mind of God.

There is no physical reality, except as observed by a Quanta – an individual soul.

No individual souls, nothing ‘blinks out’ of the Quantum Ocean, Mind of God, no physical reality.

Let us understand that all is spirit, energy, non-physical vibration.

Let us talk about Spiritual or Soul Entanglement. And study the Laws of Resonant Frequency between souls. The rapports between souls.

It is true that each individual soul ‘blinked out’ of the Quantum Ocean, Mind of God to experience “Life” on the physical plane. It is also true that the thoughts that this individual soul chooses to believe will attract energy out of the Quantum Ocean, Mind of God into his/her aura.

The energies one carries in one’s aura attracts one’s physical reality.

What needs to be better understood is spiritual Quantum Entanglement.

This means that even though an individual soul attracts, it’s physical life by thoughts and beliefs; they are also affected by the thoughts and beliefs of others.

A belief is simply a thought that has been accepted and thought about over and over. On a conscious level a soul may be trying very hard to pick and choose the thoughts they think and to believe the beliefs that they believe in.

But in this chaotic time between the changing of one Age (Pisces) into the changing of a new Age (Aquarius) thoughts and belief systems are running rampant.

You can go out on the Net and buy a dozen new belief systems for a dollar.

During this transition time, between these two 2000 year Ages it is imperative that we all become still and know that we are souls in the Mind of God.

Let us stop and take stock of our thoughts. Where are they coming from?

From those we are vibrationally “en rapport” with, IE, family, wife, children, relatives, lovers, friends.

Or they are being electronically spewed out at us from the mass media. Every time you turn the TV on or read a newspaper, magazine, see a bill board you are being bombarded by someone else’s thoughts.

These thoughts and impressions may not necessarily affect or harm you unless you ‘believe” them. Do you believe everything you hear or see? This is a classic definition of modern day insanity.

To stay sane in these difficult transitional times, we need to embrace the idea: “Do not believe anything you hear and only 10% of what you see.”

It would be more helpful for humanity if the Quantum Scientists would study Quantum Soul Entanglement.

Teach the people more about thoughts and belief transference between living souls.

dog food history

Among the most beneficial things you’ll be able to do for your dog is to feed it nutrients that are healthy for dogs to eat. Dogs are firm, passionate, loving, friendly, thoughtful, playful and frequently entertaining, making them desirable pets for owners and families.

As a responsible owner we need to find a healthy food for our loving pet that can help them to become energetic and healthy. It sounds like an easy plan but fortunately it is hard to do. In finding the correct healthy dog food for your dog you need to take into consideration things like raw and organic foods and whether it is best for your breed of dog to simply feed them fats, protein and carbohydrates straight from fresh food.

Your pet needs healthy dog food with carbohydrates – 40-60% of the diet should come from carbohydrates which is essential for your dog’s wellness. Carbohydrates include amylums and sugar that can be changed into available energy. Too much carbohydrates comprises your dog’s health and will be stored as fat and may cause obesity, poor digestion and other health problems. Good examples of healthy carbohydrates are oats, sweet potatoes and yams.

Fat are also essential when deciding on a healthy dog food. Beneficial examples of fat are vegetable oil, fish and meat. Omega-3 fatty acids are important for a conditioned skin and healthy coat and might assist in the reversal of some health troubles like inflammation and blood coagulation.

Similar to other species, dogs need vitamins and minerals. You should look for a good dog food abundant in vitamins and minerals which are essential to a dog’s growth and for fighting off disease. For example, Vitamin A is significant for aiding in their visual sense and for bone and teeth growth. Vitamin D is important for the assimilation of calcium and Vitamin E allows anti-oxidant to reject toxins in the dog’s body. Minerals like calcium and magnesium are beneficial for teeth and bones as well as for the normal performance of the heart.

dog food best value
best dog food/dog treats?

I have a 7 year old female shepherd/terrier. I am just wondering what is the best “brand” of dog food and treats for nutritional value and also for taste. It would help if this brand is from either Petco or Petsmart. Considering the treat…I WANT the best treat for a dog.

There is no food that is the *best*, different individual dog may thrive on different foods. What is best for one may not be the best for the next. And just because a food is good quality, it doesn’t mean it will jive the best for your dog.

What you want to find is the HIGH-QUALITY food that *your dog* does best on.

Here are some examples of high quality foods:
* Artemis
* Blue Buffalo
* California Natural
* Canidae
* Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover’s Soul
* Eagle Pack Holistic Selects
* EVO
* Fromm
* Innova
* Merrick
* Nature’s Variety
* Orijen
* Solid Gold
* Taste of the Wild
* Timberwolf Organics
* Wellness
* ZiwiPeak

Or check this website; the 4, 5, or 6 star rated foods are all good foods, 3 or less stars I would stay away from. http://www.hillsvet.com/zSkin_2/company_info/company_info_general.jsp?JSESSIONID=HMz2B3Jn3hv0rnSoxCobfbBhOec35ODG7yh5t3P0vcvhOtzRlQ9M!598359213!167846923!7005!8005&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302026072&bmUID=1196192566575

Read the ingredients before you buy. Go with a high-quality dog food.

Here is my “short list” of rules when I am looking at dog food ingredients:
1) When I chose a dog food, I chose one high meat content. I want to see preferably at least 2-3 out of the top 5 ingredients be meat or meat meal (first ingredient must be!). Meal is simply the meat with the moisture removed.
2) I want to see higher quality grains, such as barley, brown rice, and oatmeal, instead of seeing wheat and corn. Or an alternative starch/carbohydrate such as potatoes or sweet potatoes.
3) I don’t want to see any byproducts.
4) I don’t want to see a lot of fillers.
5) I don’t want to see preservatives that are believed to be carcinogens (BHA, BHT, ethoxyquin).
6) I don’t want to see artificial colorings such as the Red, Blue, and Yellow dyes.
7) I don’t want to see added sugars (sugar, corn syrup).
8) I don’t want to see mystery meats (meats identified only as “meat” or “poultry”.)

Here is an article about byproducts:

http://www.dogfoodproject.com/index.php?page=ingrd

And an article on what ingredients to avoid:

http://www.dogfoodproject.com/index.php?page=badingredients

Higher quality food may seem more expensive at first, but it evens out. The higher quality the food, the less fillers eaten (and therefore the less poop comes out the other end). Your dog eats more of a low-quality food to try to get the nutrition it needs, and most of the food just passes right on through. Also, higher-quality food will make your animals healthier, so you save money on vet bills in the long run.

What *NOT* to buy:

Stay away from grocery stores brands. They are low-quality foods chalk full of fillers, preservatives, dyes, etc.. (Grocery store foods are those like Beneful, Old Roy, Alpo, Pedigree, Purina, etc.)

Beware “premium” foods. “Premium” does not always mean good nutritionally, and is not a nutritionally high quality food. Most of these foods have the same types of ingredients as grocery store foods, just a bit better quality of those not-so-good ingredients. (Premium foods are those like Iams, Eukanuba, Science Diet, Bil-Jac, Royal Canin, etc..)

Another thing to be wary of: A lot of vets will recommend what they sell in their office. They get profit from the brands they keep on their shelves, that’s why they push it. Truth is, vet schools don’t focus a lot on nutrition. It’s not saying that a vet is a bad vet because he recommends those foods, a lot of vets just are told “this is good food”, so they pass the message along without proper nutrition knowledge. Also, some dog food brands (like Hills) support vet schools, so vets have heard of it from the time they start college, which makes them think it’s good as well.

Hills company, the makers of Science Diet, are heavily involved in vet schools. “Hill’s scientists author more than 50 research papers and textbook chapters each year and teach at leading schools of veterinary medicine” (Source of quoted section: http://www.hillsvet.com/zSkin_2/company_info/company_info_general.jsp?JSESSIONID=HMz2B3Jn3hv0rnSoxCobfbBhOec35ODG7yh5t3P0vcvhOtzRlQ9M!598359213!167846923!7005!8005&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302026072&bmUID=1196192566575 )

“Big box” petstores like Petco and Petsmart rarely have quality foods. (I do believe that PetCo sells “Solid Gold” and “Natural Balance” brands and Petsmart sells “Blue Buffallo”, which are all higher quality foods, but most of the foods aren’t.)

Also, grocery stores and Walmart aren’t good places to buy food either.

Your best bets for getting quality dog food are:
- small, locally owned petstores
- dog boutiques
- farm supply stores

When switching foods, do it gradually. I do this over about a two week timespan:
25% food A, 75% food B
50% food A, 50% food B
75% food A, 25% food B
100% food A

=== === ===

As for treats, go with natural/holistic treats. No by-products, no added sugar/corn-syrup, no artificial colors, etc.

Here are some examples of great treats:
* Zukes Mini Naturals
* ZiwiPeak ‘Good-Dog’ treats
* Wellness WellBites
* Itty Bitty Buddy Biscuits
* EVO dog treats
* any freeze dried meat or organ

You can also use pieces of vegetable and fruit as treats. Such as:
* carrots
* blueberries
* green beans
* peas
* strawberries
* raspberries
* blackberries
* apples
* bananas

Cervical cancer can affect women of any age, though it is more common in women at the age range of 50-55. The cervical cancer grows in the lower, narrower part of the uterus, which connects the uterus with the vagina. Though the exact cause of the cancer is unknown, researches on this disease have suggested that a sexually transmitted virus can cause the cells in the cervix to change in such a way that it eventually leads to cancer.

If you are not yet certain that you have cervical cancer, it will be a good idea to locate some reputed Pittsburgh cervical cancer treatment centers where they will diagnose your condition. If unfortunately you happen to have cancer, you will have to find some Pittsburgh cervical cancer chemotherapy centers that offer the best treatments.

How will you be diagnosed?

Before any kind of treatment can be started, the hospital will need to diagnose your condition. The tests may include a pap test, colposcopy and biopsy, where a sample of the vagina is removed to be tested. In solposopy, a lighted, magnifying instrument is used to examine the vagina and the cervix in detail. The pap test is extremely important and must be carried out by all sexually active women, once every year. This test is performed by scraping and testing a tissue from the inside of the cervix and the upper vagina.

If cancer is detected, a few additional tests need to be carried out by the Pittsburgh cervical cancer treatment centers so that they can determine if the cancer has spread to other parts of the pelvis or any other part of the body.

Treatment of Cervical cancer

The Pittsburgh cervical cancer treatment centers will offer you numerous approaches that can help you treat your cancer, including surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. If you have been diagnosed with cancer, you can rest a little easier knowing that you have skilled qualified professionals on your side.
