dog food ratings consumer reports
Where can I find good ratings on dog food quality?

Is there a consumers report, or some other independent rating system? I’m not interested in people’s personal opinions on dog food, but some sort of scientific studies.

Dog Food Analysis is the website that has ratings/reviews of dog foods. (I recommend only feeding foods rated 4, 5, or 6 stars. Anything 3 stars or less, I would stay away from.)

http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_reviews/

Dog Food Analysis isn’t a “scientific study” per say, they don’t do any sort of experiments with chemicals to see how the food breaks down of anything. But they do use a standard way across the board of reviewing the foods, which you can see here: http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/how_do_we_assess_the_foods.htm

Dog Food Project is a great website as well. It tells you more about the ingredients in your dog food, how to read labels, etc.

The wellness center or hotel spa should have more than just a sauna and a pool if you are to have a great wellness hétvége or wellness weekend at one of the wellness szállodák or wellness hotels. And if there is fresh air around so much the better it. Taking in a deep breath and exhaling the fresh air provides your immune system and inner cells great health and recovery. And fresh air from the countryside or forest areas is definitely better than the air we breathe in the cities.

Make sure that the wellness szállodák or health resort that you stay for your wellness hétvége or weekend wellness retreats have more than just a swimming pool and a sauna. You expect to be fully spoilt when you get there and you definitely deserve much more. So before you make your reservations, just check that out. Your wellness center should have a minimum of two saunas, if it has four saunas that would be even better. They should have different ranges of temperature in each and different smells too so you can choose what suits you best. Some of these spa resorts provide an additional external area for cooling. How to use it effectively should be available as no one would want to end up with a cold after a sauna.

Then some of the wellness szállodák or health spas have a solarium which you can use if you want to get a tan too. Some people find that their energy levels went up after going to a solarium. It is not a necessity but most good health resorts have them. Your wellness hétvége or wellness spa weekend will not be complete without a massage. A long and good passionate massage can be very relaxing. All wellness szállodák or wellness holiday hotels must provide for massages. The massage should be given in the resort itself and you should not have to travel some place else for it. That way the relaxation that you would get from the massage would be lost too soon.

All wellness szállodák or hotel wellness centers have pools. Make sure that the pools are not too old. If they have different pools with different smells then that is an added bonus and you can have a relaxing and enjoyable time depending on your likes. And make sure that all the wellness facilities are available at the wellness resort itself and that you don’t have to drive to the next village or town to avail of them. You can be sure that your wellness hétvége or weekend wellness retreat will be a great one.

Then there is yoga which is also promoted by many of these wellness szállodák and is good for mind, body and soul. Just lying in a hot tub, Jacuzzi or spa can be very relaxing and does wonders for your circulation by dilating the blood vessels. You can indeed have a great wellness hétvége or fitness weekend at one of these wellness szállodák or ayurveda hotels.

dog cancer radiation
Is there any Experimental/Research for Cancer Treatment on Dogs? ?

I am wondering if there is ANY possible research being done for Treatment of Cancer in dogs who’s owner has no funding for Radiation and Chemo Etc? My dog has had several tumors develop in a matter of weeks and the vet said it would be *over* $1,500.00 to treat the dog. I don’t have that kind of money and I don’t want him to die because I can’t help him. What do I do now?

Do what you think is best for your dog. Go with your own insticts on this one, because it depends if you want to put the dog through any more torture or not. My father would have put our dog down sooner if he had realized sooner that there was really they could have done to save it. The dog died in it’s sleep anyway after monthes of torture.

dog food ingredients compare
What is the website to see how good a dog food really is?

I have searched for dog foods that would be good for my 10 yr old lab that has high cholesterol. I was going to buy Canidae, but I was talked into another food called Apex (I think thats the name) The first ingredient was Lamb, but the food came in a brown paper bag thing with a sticker on the front. It made me kind of iffy. I fed her the food once and even thought it looked bland, she loved it. I would still like to research it more. The guy said I could bring it back if I had to.
Again, my question is whats a website to compare foods? I have seen it posted on Y!A quite a few times. Thanks in advance!
I know the first ingredient was lamb. Unfortunately the bag is home, so I can’t look at all the ingredients this second. (I am at work)

I actually have a scoring sheet on my website that I use myself. Really comes in handy.

Score Your Dog’s Food

How to grade your dog’s food: Start with a grade of 100:
1. For every listing of “by-product”, subtract 10 points
2. For every non-specific animal source (meat or poultry, meat, meal or fat) reference, subtract 10 points
3. If the food contains BHA, BHT or ethoxyquin, subtract 10 points
4. For every grain “mill run” or non-specific grain source, subtract 5 points
5. If the same grain ingredient is used 2 or more times in the first five ingredients (I.E. ground brown rice, brewers rice, rice flour are all the same grain), subtract 5 points
6. If the protein sources are not meat meal and there are less than 2 meats in the top 3 ingredients, subtract 3 points
7. If it contains any artificial colorants, subtract 3 points
8. If it contains ground corn or whole grain corn, subtract 3 points
9. If corn is listed in the top 5 ingredients, subtract 2 more points
10. If the food contains any animal fat other than fish oil, subtract 2 points
11. If lamb is the only animal protein source (unless your dog is allergic to other protein sources), subtract 2 points
12. If it contains soy or soybeans, subtract 2 points
13. If it contains wheat (unless you know that your dog is not allergic to wheat), subtract 2 points
14. If it contains beef (unless you know that your dog is not allergic to beef), subtract 1 point
15. If it contains salt, subtract 1 point

Extra Credit:
1. If any of the meat sources are organic, add 5 points
2. If the food is endorsed by any major breed group or nutritionist, add 5 points
3. If the food is baked not extruded, add 5 points
4. If the food contains probiotics, add 3 points
5. If the food contains fruit, add 3 points
6. If the food contains vegetables (NOT corn or other grains), add 3 points
7. If the animal sources are hormone-free and antibiotic-free, add 2 points
8. If the food contains barley, add 2 points
9. If the food contains flax seed oil (not just the seeds), add 2 points
10. If the food contains oats or oatmeal, add 1 point
11. If the food contains sunflower oil, add 1 point
12. For every different specific animal protein source (other than the first one; count “chicken” and “chicken meal” as only one protein source, but “chicken” and “” as 2 different sources), add 1 point
13. If it contains glucosamine and chondroitin, add 1 point
14. If the vegetables have been tested for pesticides and are pesticide-free, add 1 point

Scoring:
94-100+ = A 86-93=B 78-85=C 70-77=D 69=F

dog cancer statistics

There is a remarkable difference between having a pet and keeping one with care! A dog can be your best friend if receives proper training at the right time. Today, there are several dog trainers and specialists who offer training services for dogs but how to select the best for your dog? Let’s find out!

Dog trainers across the world generally use two methodologies for training dogs and working with their behavioral patterns: Punishment and Positive Reinforcement. On one hand, punishment is a negative form of psychology though efficient can result in developing fear and anxiousness in your dog, whereas, positive reinforcement is a positive form of behavioral psychology and is effective as well.

In most cases, punishment leads to development of fearful and anxious behavior in dogs, whereas, positive reinforcement method in the form of “rewards” helps us in developing a positive and dynamic behavioral patterns in dogs.

There are many dog training institutes who use either or both the techniques for training dogs and dealing and polishing their behavioral problems and their behavior patterns respectively. But surveys and statistics confirm that dogs given appropriate training with a positive reinforcement technique are at a better position of understanding their keepers without compromising on their enjoyment factor.

Positive reinforcement in the form of “rewards” to a dog can help develop positive and long term behavior patterns in a dog. A dog being rewarded for a task is at a better position to understand the importance of the task than one who is punished for not completing a task.

Dynamite Dog is a reputed dog training centre in Burnaby in British Columbia. It is also known for offering in-home dog training services to help you groom your dogs better. It is run by the famous dog trainer and avid reader of dog behavior and psychology Lee Poizer. Lee has been training dogs since 2002 and has worked with thousands of dogs and had been studying canine behavior and dog psychology for years. People like Lee Poizer make a good choice for efficient and result-oriented dog training.

dog cancer survival rate
my dog has mouth cancer (fibrosarcoma). The vet will remove lower jaw. If completely remove, whats his chance

I have found many sites saying too many different things like an 80% survival rate of 3 years to completely cured. Some say it will come back.

Point blank, is he going to die.

(also, anyone know how much the surgury should be, have already spent 1,000 on tests)

I have read some articles about using herbal remedies w/ success for oral cancer in dogs. I cant find the 1 I read but I did find this link. Not sure if it would help in this case but maybe it is an option to research further with your vet or a vet that uses both traditional and holistic cures. I hope everything works out!
