K9 ALPHA OMEGA
After researching the efficacy of different Omega supplements, Birkdale discovered that Omega 3 fatty acids, made from salt water fish, offered the best Omega regimen for dogs and thus was formulated into K9 Alpha Omega.
Omega 3 fatty acids contain Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA). Omega 3 fatty acids vie with mutated cells for linoleic acid, and when successful, divert linoleic acid from feeding mutation growth.
Omega 3 fatty acids from small salt water fish such as anchovies and sardines deliver the best results, because you don't have to worry about mercury as you do with medium and large size fish. Dogs can metabolize and use EPA and DHA directly from fish while Omega 3, derived from plants such as flax seed oil, needs to be converted to DHA and EPA. Unfortunately, only a small percentage of EPA and DHA can be metabolized from these plants, because dogs often lack the enzymes needed to convert grains. As a result, fish-based Omega supplements are more effective than Omega 3 from grains.
Dogs love K9 Alpha Omega because of the fishy smell, and there are no fillers that would make it difficult for digestion or utilization. This natural supplement is available as gelcaps so you can pour the fish oil on their food or give it to them as a treat. Dosage is 1,000 mg a day, and one should be given per every 20 pounds of weight.
Recomended Dosage: Use one softgel per 20 lbs. body weight per day. It can be opened and squeezed in food, or fed as treats.
